Chririqui

Chirriqui -an Indian word meaning Moon Valley- is on the western side of Panama. The province of Chirriqui has higher grounds, rivers, coffee plantations, thoroughbreds and mythical birds like the quetzal. The capital of the province is David, the country's third-largest burg. In general terms, the province counts on a top-quality tourist infrastructure and plenty of opportunities to enjoy its hotels, shopping malls, nightlife and the very best local and international food money can buy in its many restaurants. This is the coldest region of the country, an ideal location for nature seekers. In this paradise visitors can call the Baru Volcano National Park, plus several rivers and springs of thermal water that provide the right setting for outdoor activities, especially mountain climbing, fishing or just for taking a swim. At the base of volcano -standing some 3,000 meters high- trekkers can hit upon the village of Boquete with picture-perfect, Alpine-look houses hedged by manicured flower gardens and vast coffee plantations. Among other entertainment choices, there are valleys and towns with a loveliness of their own like Cerro Punta, Bambito and Hato del Volcan.
