Caracas

It was founded by Diego Rivera y Quiroga on July 25, 1565, forty and forty-seven years after the foundation of Coro and Cumaná respectively. From the 19th century on, Caracas began to glitter with a shimmering light of its own. The city acquired an upgrading taste for music and ballet, nobility titles, luxury and the construction of major buildings and lustful mansions went under way. Some signs of the times were the Main Square, the Cathedral, the boulevards, the Opera House and a church. The city began to take in a jaunty spirit as paths gave way to avenues and luxurious clubs were opened. If you go to Caracas you'll find glittering shopping malls, several parks, plazas, monuments and historical sites, temples, churches, such institutions as the Masonic Museum, one of the best in Europe and America combined, art galleries, theaters, universities and banks and The Yellow House (La Casa Amarilla). Caracas is the headquarters of all major national newspapers and periodicals, and where the broadcast of main TV stations originates. Caracas is a radiant, safe, hospitable and blissful city with all of its visitors, a city that offers its best hotels and restaurants, stores and shops for all tourists who come to this magnificent South American capital.
