Saint Kitts & Nevis

During the 17th and 18th Centuries, the slavery brought about the arrival of millions of African7 slaves to the Caribbean islands, many of which are now either Black or dark-colored nations that have handed down many of the original cultural elements of the continent they hailed from. As far as arts are concerned, most of the Caribbean nations have preserved traditional handcrafting know-how and techniques. A good case in point is tinsmith (discarded pots and siphons are used), creek-making (mostly by using coconut and banana leaves), as well as hand-painted clay pots and vases. Leather, amber and wood are also handcrafted.
