Cultural elements of African immigrants are kept alive as well as traditional arts and crafts techniques. Basket manufacturing is important, mainly made of coconut and plantain tree leaves; also the manufacturing of hand-painted clay pots and leather and wood products. The African heritage is kept alive through ceremonial dances, like the Jumbie. There are local dance, theater and choral groups.
