In almost the entire Mexican republic there are examples of Spanish- colonial architecture constructed with a gothic, plateresque, classic and baroque styles, decorated with autochthonous motives.Towards the end of the19th cent. , First during the short period of the regime of Emperor Maximiliano de Hans burg (1864-1867) and later under the precedence of Porfirio Diaz the splendorous French style of the Second Empire was introduced in the capital. Diaz was also in charged of the decoration of the Palace of Bell Arts that was finished by 1930.Since 1945 there has been a rebirth in the architecture that has attracted everybody. The new buildings constructed in the Universidad Nacional Autoctona of Mexico, designed by a group of artists and architects led by Carlos Lazo, outstand for their mosaic outdoor boards, work of the architect and painter Juan O’Gorman. Another Mexican architect, Felix Candela, created the completely original concrete dome (ferroconcrete dome) for the Sports Palace, emblem site for the Olympic Games in 1968, while Pedro Ramirez, designed the National Museum of Anthropology and the Aztecan Stadium.
