Cayo Coco, a Promising Caribbean Tourist Destination

Cayo Coco, 370 square kilometers, the fourth largest island in the Cuban archipelago, is one of the most demanded tourist destinations to which thousands of foreign and domestic tourists arrive through its international airport.

Located in the northern cayería of the province of Ciego de Ávila, 397 kilometers east from Havana, it is recognized as its main isle.

Since the opening of the first Cayo Coco hotel in 1993, the interest to visit the region is growing rapidly, and it makes the enclave one of the first in the nation, next to Havana, Varadero and Holguín for the reception of foreign travelers.

This fact has led to the gradual addition of other keys close to the tourist development plans, such as Guillermo,Paredón Grande, Media Luna and Antón Chico.

Its paradisiacal characteristics are now accessible to visitors from all latitudes through a comprehensive and well-conceived development programme, which has made it one of the most promising tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

Virgin and clear beaches, one of the largest coral barriers in the Caribbean area and the most significant dunes in the country are combined with a rich and varied flora and fauna exceeding 180 species of birds, mostly endemic, and about 340 types of plants to make the tourist live an unforgettable experience.
