Mexico Reports Increased Spending by International Tourists

The average spending of international tourists in Mexico increased significantly in January, when it reported 1,014.9 dollars, 19.3 percent more than in the same period last year, according to figures cited by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

He points out that 7,923,897 visitors arrived to the Aztec nation in that month, of which 3,482,519 were international tourists (43.9%), with a positive variation of 4.3% compared to January 2018.

The average expenditure of those who arrived by air was $ 1,074.20, 10.20 % more, while the average expenditure of those who arrived by land amounted to $526 per person, for an increase of 15.5 percent.

Miguel Torruco Marques, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, acknowledged that these results strengthen the new vision of the Government of the Republic in tourism, to focus more on increasing the economic flow, rather than the number of tourists.
