Cancun has the first place in the world in percentage participation of the Tourism GDP, and in the generation of jobs in the leisure industry, according to a research of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
This agency, headed by the Mexican Gloria Guevara, reported that 49.6% of GDP of the Mexican Caribbean tourist pole comes from tourism, and in turn 37.7% of jobs registered in 2017 are in that sector, with about 148,300 in Quintana Roo.
The research covered the 72 main cities of the world that concentrate 45% of tourism and behind Cancun were Marrakech with 30.2% and Macao with 29.3%....
Carlos Joaquin, governor of Quintana Roo, highlighted these achievements that show such global positioning, but noted that they go for more in order to make tourism generate more benefits for people.
He stressed that public policies have been reoriented so that these new investments consolidate Quintana Roo as a regional tourist power and provide services to a growing population.
The greatest demand in Cancun is set by the United States and Canada as its main tourist issuing markets.
