Biografía:
Havana, 1946 This famous singer-songwriter, made his debut when he was three years old and he sang in the radio a song entitled Viajera. Many years later he became into one of the best composers of the popular song. He studied piano, classes which he interrupted in several occasions until he entered the military service where he changed the piano for the guitar. In that time, he composed his first songs: Sueño del colgado, La tierra, Quedate. He met Pablo Milanes and Noel Nicola in a festival of songs and he later founded with them the movement New Ballad. Later, Leo Brouwer, outstanding composer of contemporary music, created the Group of Sound Experimentation of the Institute of Art and Movie Industries (ICAIC), and the three young composers joined him. As composer of the ICAIC, Silvio participate in the music of several documentals such as Testimonio, El hombre de Maisinicu, Al sur del Maniadero and La Nueva Escuela. This is when he wrote theme like La era esta pariendo un corazon, Cancion del elegido and Al final de este viaje. His first album appeared in 1976, showing a superior musical and instrumental work, a less contingent and more personal theme, with a more complex poetic production. Nowadays, Silvio has composed more than 500 themes and he`s known in Latin America, USA, Europe and Africa. In Chile he became known thanks to the interpretations made by Isabel Parra of his themes and, presently, through other singers, and due to the huge sale of his discs.
