La Romana

La Romana's celebrity comes, above all, from the Casa de Campo (Countryside House) complex, one of the world's best and most complete. It's a perfect combination of hotels, villas, restaurants and the Cajuiles Golf Club that spreads for roughly 2,800 hectares and features the nation's best ground and nautical sports facilities. The Ninitas Beach, one of the best ones in all Santo Domingo, is within the boundaries of this tourist complex. Right in the city, the Santa Rosa de Lima Church, to honor the burg's saint patron, is worth mentioning, as well as the City Hall headquarters, the Barrio de la Costa and the Caleton Beach, often visited by locals. In the proximity of La Romana, the Chavon Heights stand tall. This town that overlooks a spectacular landscape from the top of the mount, showcases a small look-alike village of the 16th century built under the purest Spanish Renaissance style. Its cobbled streets run through boungaville-laden patios and wrought-iron balconies. Along the eastern limit of La Romana and overlooking a gorgeous beach, the Dominicus Club stands out, and pretty close to it, the old fishermen town of Bayahive is located by a small gully that runs out to a white-sandy beach almost 2 km long. Scuba divers will bump here into a precious coral reef.
