Ocho Rios

If you start driving westbound first thing in the morning, you'll hit upon Ocho Rios. Down a coastal road, this city washed by a teal-blue sea will be waiting just for you. The city's renowned attraction stems from having the island nation's most breathtaking and natural views. We're talking about the Dunns River Waterfalls, the most famous in the entire Caribbean Basin, that pour down from a height of 183 meters. Here you'll have the opportunity of taking a swim in fresh-water puddles and climbing up the rocky surface. The Coyaba River Garden & Museum is part of a private estate breathtakingly decorated with fish ponds and waterfalls. Another fascinating location is Harmny Hall, a 19th-century mansion thoroughly refurbished and currently housing one of the island's finest art galleries and typical handicraft exhibits. This is the right spot for you to buy gifts and keepsakes to take back home. Ocho Rios is Jamaica's second-best tourist destination. Its hotels spread for several miles on both sides of town and are visited very often by local and foreign travelers. In Ochie, as locals call it, you'll find beaches, nautical activities, water sports and carloads of entertainment, plus numerous bars, restaurants and shopping malls. The gardens at Shaw Park, the Fern Barracks, the Carinosa Gardens, the Esperanza (Hope) Plantation, the Salon Plantation, Brimmer and Chukkan Gully are only a few of the many locations waiting for your visit to delight you with their jaw-dropping landscapes and marvelously gifted nature.
